This is one of my favorite photos that I’ve taken at Walt Disney World. Taken just before the famous plunge, it offers a really nice view of the Magic Kingdom’s other towering icons: Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain. It’s one of those photos that just reminds me, “That’s where I’d like to be right now.” But I also love it because I think it captures that “calm before the storm” effect that you experience in that particular moment of time when riding Splash Mountain. That view kind of takes your breath away – but only for a moment as you’re just about to take a terrifying ride over the hill, through the briar patch, and into the Laughing Place. There’s a lot going through my mind when I look at this picture, but maybe that’s why I love it.
