A Review of our Dinner at Citricos

We were all dolled up for a night on the town in Walt Disney World. 20 years together is no small accomplishment, and my awesome husband wanted to celebrate it in style.  I was so proud of him that he chose something that we had not only ever done, but we didn’t normally eat at the Grand Floridian much at all.  He told me what it was while we got ready, and I was beyond excited.  This is our dinner experience, this is Citricos.Anniv12

It was on a Saturday evening, September 14th, at 6:20 p.m.  Since it is during the quieter time in Walt Disney World, getting a reservation here was no problem.  We took the Monorail over to the Grand Floridian, which was fun all dressed up, and checked in with no problem.Citricos1

The Restaurant is located on the 2nd floor in the corner, so if you are coming off the Monorail, it is to the left all the way down the walkway.    They took our name and we waited seconds before the hostess was taking us to our table.Citricos3

This Restaurant is beautiful! All the Cast Members said hello to us and were extremely friendly.  It was pretty quiet at this time, and for most of our meal we were only one of two tables that were filled in the tower area.  We had a gorgeous window view of the grounds and the tables were nicely spaced so we weren’t on top of anyone else.Citricos11

I love the places that pull out your chair for you!  We were given two free glasses of Champagne and our menus had “Happy Anniversary” on them which we got to take home as a souvenir.  A bread basket was brought out and we enjoyed it as we poured over the menu.Citricos4 Citricos15

As we were perusing the menu, our waiter brought out a tasty sampler to cleanse our palette which was delicious!Citricos7

We decided to order as our First Course the “Panada.”  Their definition was: “Spiced and slow-cooked beef and pork in a crisp Phyllo with Tamarind Sauce.” Now I had no idea how big or small they would be, so we chose to split them- we should have seriously ordered our own because they were FANTASTIC!! My mouth is watering right now just THINKING about them- delicious!Citricos8

We collected 20 of the Mickey confettis from the Magic Kingdom stage show, and I arranged them on our dinner table for a cool picture of our celebration.Citricos6

We also chose the “Grilled Summer Vegetable Soup- steeped in Tomato Tea with Ditalini Pasta, Onions, Pennel, Zucchini, Red Peppers,  and Brentwoord Farms Corn.”   Folks…this was so yummy!  They brought out our bowl first with the vegetables just sitting in them, then they poured in the Tomato tea in front of you- so simple with such a cool presentation!Citricos16

For our Main Course, we both chose the “Oak-grilled Filet of Beef- Yukon Gold Potato, Vidalia Gratin, Balsamic Caramelized Onions, Peppadew Peppers, Arugula Greens, and Cabernet Demi-glace.”  I don’t even know HOW to describe how incredible this was.  Usually when we have steak, there is some type of grissle or leftover from it, there was not one speck of meat left on our plates when we were finished. The meat melted in your mouth, and it was super soft and moist.  The potatoes and onions added just enough flavor to partner the amazing filet.  It. Was. To. Die. For.Citricos9 Citricos10

If that weren’t enough, we went for dessert.  I’m not sure why, probably the excitement of it all, but it was definitely our “eyes bigger than our stomach” kind of thing. We ordered the Banana Torte which could have been a work of art on its own. When they brought both to the table, our smiles were huge! Bananas, chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream and large chocolate crown with a “Happy Anniversary” treat to finish it off.  It was, of course, amazing!  Very rich, but definitely delicious.Citricos12 Citricos13 Citricos14

The Restaurant had an amazing atmosphere that was very relaxed and elegant.  For what you pay for, it is worth every penny here.   We don’t go all out all the time, so this was incredibly special to both of us. We laughed and we cried over memories we shared over the past 20 years together- it could not have been a more perfect evening and meal.   We found out that you can’t put a price on our celebration, so we didn’t even bother trying.  It was the best, and I highly encourage you to try it out!Citricos5
