Stop Second Guessing Yourself
You know when you make that choice, that decision, and it came so easy to you? Do you know why? Because that is WHO you are, that is what your make up is. It could be considered a personality trait, but whatever “that” is, it’s in the core of your being and it makes you, YOU. When you feel that passion deep in your soul, that longing to do something for the greater good of your life, you need to stop second guessing yourself.
Relocation is scary, it just is. And anyone who tells you otherwise is simply full of it. There is so much of the unknown you have to tackle that it can be trying at times to not just throw in the towel, walk away and go back to whatever you were doing before that spark was ignited. But what people forget is WHY was that spark ignited in the first place? Something inside of you is telling you that you want this, you need this, and that it’s time to go for it.
We are all human and we are bound to make mistakes, but that’s what is SO AWESOME because we are made up TOO make those mistakes. If we didn’t try, if we just continued to wonder instead of acting, where would any of us be now? Making that choice, that commitment, that dream to come true is one of the coolest, most wonderful moments you will EVER experience because you are taking a leap of not only faith, but of hope. Hope that whether you are looking to move to Florida, or wherever your destination may be, that it will take your life to new levels you never dreamed of.
I am an example, my family is an example. If you would have told us three years ago we would be living near our friends, hanging out at the “Food and Wine Festival” like it was the local pub, and getting to enjoy a piece of the magic any time we wanted, we probably would have laughed and said “Yeah, right” and went back to shoveling the driveway. (We have yet to miss the snow).
Do you realize how many times Craig and I looked at each other and thought “Are we doing the right thing?” It’s human nature to do so because we WANT things to be ok and all right, we don’t want or need chaos brought into our lives that didn’t exist before. But I can tell you that every time we thought about it, or the words came out, we would pray, smile, and know that if it was in God’s plan to get us here, we would get here. All of us have a story that has already been written, we are all just lucky enough to read a page of it each day as our lives move forward.
Don’t second guess yourself not only on relocation, but anything on life. Yes, give things thought, but most of us know deep in our soul what we want it, how we want it, and when we want. Don’t let others dictate your story, live it how YOU want to live it. Be strong in your choices, keep your head held high, and stay true to what you believe in. No one has the right to tell you that you can’t go for your dreams, so go for them. I guarantee you it will be the most exhilarating adventure you will ever go on, the greatest chapter you will ever write, because you took that leap and didn’t let anyone stop you. Keep moving forward my friends!

Going from “What If? to “Why Not” is my life motto and I work hard at living that every day. I share everything from moving to Florida to live near Disney World to road trips across the States. I love the cool, quirky, and crazy stuff that I can find on my Adventures, and every dollar you donate helps support my efforts and hard work. Thank you to ALL who support me!

I HAVE been second-guessing myself, and this decision to move to Florida! I know what I want and I know I can do it, I just get overwhelmed by all the details; like, do I drive a moving truck or use pods, how do I find a dentist, or vet, or will I be able to drive on I-4 safely? It’s like you’re reading my mind Amy!

So true! We four yrs till we move to FL. Last visit we were there we were looking homes by Dr. Philips. Beautiful area and we can’t wait! Four yrs can’t come soon enough. We hardly second guess because I’m the type that hates regret. So I do what I’m thinking now and I think if I regret I’ll regret it later. I have yet to regret what I chose. The only thing that worries me are the spiders, snakes and gators there. Have you seen much, Amy?

Just as a general life rule, I’ve come to realize that we can’t let the fact that things could go wrong paralyze us and prevent us from moving forward. Walt Disney didn’t do that, for one pertinent example. Did he fail? Sure he did — he wasn’t always right in every choice he made, but he instinctively knew that a creative person who never fails is one who isn’t taking enough risks. Of course, it makes sense to take any reasonable steps to minimize risk whenever we can, but we’ll never eliminate it. Once you’ve assessed the risks and planned carefully, “keep moving forward.”

Amy,
This blog post was like a hug for my soul. My husband and I will be joining you as Orlando residents in a little less than 2 months. For some reason, this past week it has become very real and very scary. Reading this post has reminded me that it’s going to be scary, but you’ve got to push through that fear. Thanks for always being an inspiration! Hope to see you in the parks!

I just came across your blog today and am very glad that I did. My husband and I just got told last week that he got a promotion and it was in Florida (we live in Colorado). We have never really thought of leaving Colorado have great friends and family is here as well. Then we got hit with this offer that has to be honest, rocked our world. We aren’t really movers and shakers and live a rather boring comfortable like and are scared of changing that. I do have a desire of the unknown, and what it would be like to get up and go. But, then I think about what it would do to our kids and would I find friends there like we have here. We both aren’t that outgoing so it wouldn’t be as easy for us. We do pray but I don’t feel like I am being led either way. One day I am so excited and ready to go try it and the next scared and sad. It is so hard to know what is right and if we are giving up on an amazing experience, or if we stay where we are comfortable. We have a choice to stay or go and they will pay for everything if we go, relocation costs, travel, everything. Just a little lost right now on what is right.
