My Disney Scrapbook Pages- A Visit to The Haunted Mansion
One of my absolute favorite rides at Disney’s Magic Kingdom is the Haunted Mansion. Why? Well the love of everything spooky that goes bump in the night has always given me goosebumps and raised my curiosity. I rode it for the first time in 1991, and then again on many vacations and beyond. One of my favorite times was taking my kids on it for the first time. Kyra went with us first, and she HATED the heads that popped up behind the gravestones and screamed. To this day when I ride it, I laugh when they pop up because they no longer scream, just jump scares now.
I don’t know if it’s the dark, the cool air, the pre-show, walking up to the Mansion itself or riding through the endless labyrinth of spirits that makes me giddy, but this ride is in my top 5. Did you know that when you get to the graveyard, and the doom buggy turns you around to descend backwards, the opinion is that you are simulating dying and that you are entering the graveyard as a ghost yourself?!? That’s why when the Caretaker see you with his dog, he is shivering and scared because now YOU are the spirit! I love this theory, not sure if this is the “why” of it, but I love this concept. All this time I just thought he was scared of the graveyard we were entering. Also did you know that the bride in the attic takes the heads of all her grooms, and they are actually hidden in hat boxes that are stacked opposite her when you exit? So next time you see her, look to your RIGHT and you will see the stack a long with all of their hats hanging on a coat rack.

These pages were fun to make because I love the cemetery area while waiting to enter the Mansion. If you are a newcomer to that area, make sure you take the time to watch the tombstone with the face- her eyes open if you wait long enough. It’s one of my favorite Imagineering spots of creativity with the tombstones. (Also the Pet Cemetery when you exit the ride- say hello to Mr. Toad!) I just hand drew these and had fun with them, it’s more a tribute to the ride then pictures, as you can see I used only one LOL. Want to see more of my Disney Pages? Check them out HERE and HERE.
